The Lagoon

The lagoon is a series of shallow, warm landlocked lakes. The area is marshy and humid, the air almost constantly buzzing with biting insects.

Reyx yawned lazily, watching the Parasaurs in the river below.
The herd had been honking and hooting all morning, and it had distracted him from his task of searching for breakfast.
It was quite unusual for the Parasaurs to venture this far from the plains, so Reyx took the opportunity to study their behavior and herd pattern.

The duck-billed hadrosaurs milled about in the water, the younglings of the herd all grouped in the center for protection as they played.
If the Parasaurs had intended to go unnoticed, they had done a terrible job at trying. Their honking and hooting was so loud that Reyx had heard them from his Lagoon. He was certain that a larger predator would soon notice them if it wasn't already lying in ambush.

The wind radically changed direction and brought a stench that froze Reyx's insides. It was the stench of a rotting carcass, which was usually accompanied by a large predator that neglected personal hygiene.
Reyx turned his head and looked in the direction of the scent. He couldn't see the source, but the smell was strong so it had to be near the herd.

Reyx watched the river, keeping his eyes on the thick under growth where even a large predator could be concealed...

Reyx scratched a bite inflicted by one of the carnivorous insects that were buzzing around. He was still watching the under growth with his bright eyes as he waited for a predator to pounce upon the herd.

In the distance he could see three long necked, Brachiosaurs. They ambled through the trees and into a river where they would duck their heads and tear the wet greenery from the muddy banks.
